Harley-Davidson® Bar & Shield Eagle Firefighter Ride Bell HRB064. Harley-Davidson® has a rich history of supporting both our nation’s policemen and firefighters. Firefighter badges also have a rich history and Harley-Davidson® is proud to have their own version of the firefighter badge in raised relief on this ride bell. The badges that firefighters wear are adorned with symbolism of the history of the firefighter role. The most common symbol found on this ride bell is called the scramble – it’s the center seal of the Firefighter Badge which has a grouping of firefighter tools and symbols such as ladders axes hooks and a firefighter helmet. As with most firefighter badges the scramble seal sits in the center of a maltese cross which has come to symbolize the protection provided by the wearer of the cross and the loyalty with which he serves. For the top part of our badge a bald eagle sits atop a Harley-Davidson® Bar & Shield®. The bell is made out of polished and chromed metal and includes ring for hanging a felt pouch and a legend card. The legend says that Evil Road Spirits have latched themselves to motorcycles for as long as there have been bikes on the road. These Evil Road Spirits are responsible for mechanical problems and bad luck along a journey. The legends goes on to say that by attaching a small bell onto your bike the Evil Road Spirits will become trapped inside the bell where the constant ringing drives them insane making them lose their grip until they fall to the ground.
